A truly beautiful compass, with a luxury-watch-standard dial, strikingly detailed, rotating bezel, and precision-engineered, mirror-polished stainless steel fob case.  The badge can be engraved with initials or a name, while both the exterior and the presentational interior are ideal for engraving longer messages.  This compass makes an ideal symbolic gift - especially popular for weddings, graduations and other occasions of significance.

The Voyager Compass is perhaps the best-known of all Dalvey compasses.  Its unique pommel catch, tactile shape, and iconic design make it a classic of the range.  This compass features an exceptionally fine-detailed dial combining a cool, classic white ground with intricate texturing and mirror-polished detailing in the compass rose and increments. The traditional red-tipped needle is echoed in subtle details at the cardinal points.

Functional, robust, elegant and unique, Dalvey compasses make perfect gifts.  Each comes in beautiful presentation packaging, and can be engraved and gift-wrapped.

Not suitable for use in Australia or New Zealand: this compass is balanced for use in the northern hemisphere. If you require a southern hemisphere-balanced compass please visit our Australian store.

TIMEPIECES MADE IN THE HIGHLANDS OF SCOTLAND

Dalvey watches are designed and made in-house, at our factory in the Scottish Highlands. Every timepiece is built around a Swiss mechanical movement, assembled by hand, and developed with an uncompromising focus on material quality, structural harmony, and aesthetic depth.

Our watches are the product of decades of refinement in design, manufacture, and purpose.

Albert pocket watch chains were popular in the 19th century; Queen Victoria's husband was particularly keen on them - hence the name.

A JOURNEY THROUGH
INSTRUMENTS AND TIME

Our horological story began with sound. Founded in 1897 as a manufacturer of Highland bagpipes, our early work demanded extreme acoustic precision and craftsmanship.

Founded in 1897 as a manufacturer of Highland bagpipes...

That legacy of engineering discipline and tactile skill shaped the evolution of the company – from musical instruments to precision accessories, and ultimately, to timepieces.

We first entered horology with the Voyager Clock – a bold and compact design that became iconic from its release. We went on to develop a broader range of clocks, all designed and built in-house, and informed by the same principles: precision engineering, aesthetic depth, and functional excellence.

Our first pocket watches followed shortly after, conceived as a natural extension of our design philosophy – and of our desire to create accessories of distinction for the modern gentleman. Or, in our own terms: to equip the hypothesised Dalvey Man – a discerning, dynamic, and free-thinking individual.

THE POCKET WATCH: CRAFT AND CONTINUITY

Dalvey has been producing pocket watches for decades. Today, we make every one of them in-house, in our factory in Alness.

Cases are machined from solid stainless steel and mirror-polished by hand in the Highlands. Dials are rich in material and contrast – incorporating guilloché textures, mother-of-pearl inlays, bold colourways, and traditional secondary seconds. Movements are selected for their dependability, adjusted where required, and tested extensively in-house.

Assembly is conducted by our team of skilled technicians, whose horological training is matched by a commitment to consistency, durability, and finish. It's a combination of competence and control that's rare at any scale – and unique in the Highlands.

To us, the pocket watch is a form of enduring relevance. It connects us to a lineage of mechanical craft, formal precision, and meaningful ritual. It's a category in which we bring deep expertise, and one in which we continue to design, manufacture, and lead.

Our wristwatches are the natural culmination of our evolution in horology. They owe much to our pocket watch heritage, which is alluded to and celebrated throughout their design: from domed crystal profiles and raised dial increments to classical symmetry and focused legibility. But they are also entirely their own – conceived from the ground up to express the distinctive design DNA that defines Dalvey.

Every model is designed, assembled, and tested in-house. The dials are deliberately layered, often using stepped textures, framed apertures, and elegant dimensionality. Cases are engineered for balance, presence, and wearability – with form, proportion, and detail held to exacting standards. Movements are Swiss-made, selected for their mechanical integrity and horological performance.

Each watch is a cohesive aesthetic character – a timepiece with unity of tone, material, and intent. They reflect decades of experience in the design and manufacture of precision accessories: clocks, compasses, barometers, flasks, and cufflinks. They are, in a very real sense, the finest equipment for the Dalvey Man: someone who moves deliberately, thinks independently, and values design that stands apart.

WATCHMAKING AT DALVEY

Watchmaking at Dalvey is led by Neil Grant, one of our directors – a trained watchmaker and member of the British Watch and Clock Makers Guild.

Neil has been steeped in Dalvey's design language since childhood, and has worked in design, product development, marketing, strategy, and operations for over two decades. He began training in watchmaking after working with our in-house repairs team and quickly led the expansion of our watchmaking facilities – guided in part by Shuajb Berisha, Chairman of the Guild, and a friend of the brand.

MADE HERE. FOR A REASON

We manufacture our timepieces in the Highlands of Scotland because it is the right place to do it.

His roles as director, designer, and hands-on maker inform the development of every model. From movement selection and adaptation to dial composition, he brings a watchmaker's eye and a designer's obsessive insistence to the evolution of Dalvey horology.

This allows us to maintain complete control over every stage of production – from case polishing and assembly to testing and finishing. It allows us to create with pride, to build with consistency, and to design with inspiration drawn from the world around us.

We hire and train locally, building a team of craftspeople and engineers whose skills and commitment grow with the company.

Every watch that leaves our factory carries not just the mark of Dalvey, but the craftsmanship, care, and identity of this place.
