100% SWISS MADE in Biel/Bienne, the DB-9 is a ‘Top Grade’ movement, held to the same ETA standards for testing and accuracy.

From our factory in the Highlands of Scotland, we’ve designed and assembled mechanical pocket watches for decades, developing an unmatched expertise in the category. In an industry where so many so-called “heritage” brands outsource production, Dalvey is one of the very few still making pocket watches in-house—and the only company doing so in Scotland.

Our watches are serious instruments of timekeeping, engineered to meet the standards of fine horology. The DB-9, based on the legendary ETA 6497-2, offers superb accuracy, refined finishing, and a power reserve of over 50 hours. It’s housed in a case of our own design, with a forged double-opening construction, signature mirror-polished detailing, and a dial that blends classical inspiration with exceptional clarity.

This level of originality, integrity, and control is rare. It’s what allows us to make pocket watches that are both traditional and modern, refined yet functional—and entirely our own.

FINE WATCHMAKING

Our workshop sits in Alness, near the Cromarty Firth: a place long associated with precision engineering, from pipe making to marine instrumentation. It’s here that our team assembles every Dalvey pocket watch, integrating Swiss-made mechanical movements with custom-manufactured components and proprietary case architecture.

This is workshop-based horology: press-fitted crystals, ultra-fine tolerances, heat-formed shell closures. It’s also watchmaking with a unique character—born of Northern resolve, of elegance forged in function, and of a design tradition that prioritises integrity over show.

We are not content to simply “use” Swiss movements. We chose to work with a movement maker who allows us to specify everything: the grade, the finishing, the tolerances, the shock system, the power train. Every Dalvey mechanical watch uses a movement held to the highest Swiss standards, and then brought to life—tested, adjusted, and cased—right here in the Highlands.

DALVEY WATCHMAKERS

For many years, we’ve trained our own watchmakers. In our Highland workshop, we’ve developed expertise not just in design and assembly, but in the fine tolerances and hand-finishing techniques that give mechanical watches their unique quality.

This experience isn’t theoretical. It comes from assembling thousands of mechanical pocket watches—from the fitting of domed crystals and the polishing of shell interiors, to the seating of movements, the regulation of timekeeping, and the construction of chains and T-bars.

When you buy a Dalvey watch, you’re not just buying a Swiss movement in a nice case. You’re buying something that’s been made—by a small team of specialists who know what good watchmaking looks like, and care enough to do it right.
