MANUFACTURING IN THE HIGHLANDS

Dalvey designs and manufactures its products in-house, at our factory in Alness, in the Highlands of Scotland. It's where we produce our watches, flasks, compasses, barometers, clocks, and accessories – and where we handle everything from finishing and assembly to testing and quality control.

Manufacturing here allows us to work with precision, consistency, and a high level of integration between design and production. It also ensures that every item we make is built by a trusted, capable, and reliable team.

INDEPENDENCE AND IN-HOUSE CAPABILITY

We've developed a broad and specialised set of capabilities in-house: stamping, finishing, polishing, etching, engraving, dial fitting, casing, hand-setting, and more. We also manage component finishing, movement adaptation, assembly, inspection, and – in the case of timepieces – the full sequence of regulation and testing.

We produce in solid stainless steel, which is hard to work with but allows for extremely fine finishing. Achieving the mirror-polished surfaces found on our flasks, cases, and accessories is a skilled, manual process – one that takes time to master, and that requires exacting attention to detail.

Having this level of capability under one roof gives us the ability to design with confidence, knowing that we control the outcome.

TRAINING,
PROGRESSION,
AND PRIDE

Our team includes staff with backgrounds in design, engineering, and watchmaking – but also people who joined with no manufacturing experience and developed their skills over time.

We train in-house and promote from within. It's common for someone to start in lower-skilled areas and advance into more demanding roles. This internal progression builds versatility and long-term capability across the team.

There's a shared sense of ownership in the work – a pride that comes from knowing that the things we make are used, worn, and gifted around the world, and that they carry both our name and our workmanship.

WHY WE
MANUFACTURE HERE

Making our products in the Highlands isn't incidental – it's part of who we are.

The location allows us to hire and train locally, to work with concentration and integrity, and to build a company with real roots. It supports a slower, more deliberate model of design and production – one that values quality over quantity, and longevity over speed.

Very few brands design and manufacture their own products in Scotland – fewer still in the Highlands. We're proud to be one of them.
